I recently enjoyed talking with Jane and James as part of their World of Work podcast series. It was good to take a break from gardening and my joy of composting and engage with another of my passions – organizational change. We talked about the scope of organizational change, my attraction to the field and why the critique of scholarship is so essential to societies and organizations. I showcased two critical moments when I challenged the imaginary 70% organizational change failure rate and the infamous eight steps to lead change. I seem to have written so many words over the decades and it was good to be reminded how good it can be to speak. There is something different from the written word about the spoken word which interests me (to be continued).
